Coach the Georgia Southern Baseball team to their first NCAA Division I College World Series appearance in 1973 where they finished tied for fifth. Recorded 154-64 (.708) mark in four seasons (1972-75) at Georgia Southern. The 1973 team was ranked as high as fourth nationally. Piloted squads to consecutive NCAA I Regionals in 1973 and 1974. Selected Sporting News NCAA I National Coach-of-the-Year in 1973 after the Eagles' World Series trip to Omaha. Also chosen as 1973 Coach-of-the-Year for Spring Sports by Coach and Athlete Magazine. Coached two All-America performers, infielder Jim Morrison and catcher John Tamargo. Morrison, Tamargo and pitcher John Tudor, all made respectable careers in major league baseball. Born January 12, 1944 in Boston, Massachusetts. Earned Bachelors degree from Grand Canyon College in 1965 and awarded Masters from the University of Arizona in 1966. Authored The Baseball Playbook, he leading textbook in baseball teaching classes. Served as assistant coach for the gold medal-winning U.S. Olympic baseball team in Seoul, South Korea.
