A four-year starter at cornerback, Nay Young was a member of the 1985 and 1986 I-AA National Championship teams. He is the school's career record holder in interceptions with 16, and his 32 career pass breakups rank third on the Georgia Southern charts. He finished the 1985 season ranked ninth nationally, averaging 11.2 yards per punt return, and ranks fourth on the Georgia Southern single-season chart for kick-off return yards with 715. In 1985, Young recorded five interceptions in four playoff games, including two against Middle Tennessee State in the quarterfinals to help secure a win. He finished the campaign with 65 tackles, including 22 in the playoffs. Young made 64 tackles, including 55 solo stops, to go along with four interceptions in 1986. He added 48 tackles and a team-high seven pass breakups as a senior in 1987 and was signed by the New Orleans Saints in 1988.
