A three-year starter and letterman for the Eagles (1977, 1978 and 1979) who helped lead the Georgia Southern baseball program to 118-54 (.686) record and one NCAA Division I Regional Tournament appearance ... Enjoyed top season as a junior first baseman in 1979, still ranking in the top five in four single-season statistical categories -- doubles (fifth with 21), home runs (second with 26), total bases (fifth with 189) and runs batted in (second with 85) ... Earned All-America honors as designated hitter from the American Baseball Coaches Association in 1979 ... Homer total (26) as a junior broke Bob Horner's then-NCAA record for single season roundtrippers (25) ... Selected to the ABCA's All-Atlantic Region team in 1979 and was a two-year choice on the All-South Independent squad (1978-79) ... Hit .376 as a junior, guiding the Eagles to NCAA I Atlantic Regional in Coral Gables, Fla. ... Batted .314 with seven home runs as a sophomore in 1978 ... Member of USA Pan American squad in ‘79 ... Signed with Houston Astros in 1979, reaching AAA-level before retirement ... Remains strong supporter of GSU athletics and baseball program, assisting with efforts in the alumni game, leadoff banquet and many others.
