A three-time first team All-American basketball performer in the mid sixties. Led the 1964-65 team with an average of 18.1 points per game and scored 20 or more points 12 times. Born March 15, 1944, Paintsville, Kentucky. A high school All-American for Wheelwright high where he played for former Georgia Southern great, Don Wallen. Named to the Kentucky All-State Team in 1962. Transferred to Georgia Southern from the University of Kentucky. Was a starter on Wildcat freshman team in 1963-64. Led the 1965-66 Georgia Southern team to a 26-6 record and NAIA National Runner-up spot. Hit 14-foot jumper with nine seconds left in semi-finals to lift Eagles to national championship game. He was selected to the NAIA All-American Goodwill to tour the Far East. Led the 1966-67 team with a 17.6 points per game average. Named to the NAIA All-Tournament Team at Kansas City in 1967 in 1967. Played professionally for Phillips 66 and 69. Awarded Masters degree from East Tennessee State in 1971 and began successful coaching career.
