Served as team physician for Georgia Southern from 1954 until his death on March 2, 1996... Worked with athletes from every sport during his tenure, but was particularly proud of the football program... Was part of all four NCAA I-AA national football championships, basketball team which competed in the NAIAA National Tournaments during the 1950s and 60s and the 1973 baseball team which advanced to the College World Series... Began his association with Georgia Southern in 1954, when he opened a practice in Statesboro.... Shared duties as an unofficial university physician, treating both students and staff members.... Also worked closely with the Statesboro High School Athletic Department... Was introduced to sports medicine by Dr. Martin Hubert, team physician at the University of Georgia... Played quarterback at Auburn from 1940-42
