Played third base for the Eagles for two seasons (1980-81) after transferring from Middle Georgia, where he was an All-America selection and led the team to an NJCAA national title... Earned All-Atlantic Region and second-team All America honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association in 1981... Was also named Trans America Athletic Conference ‘Player of the Year’... Posted team highs with a .385 average, 51 RBIs, 17 doubles and a .506 on-base percentage as Georgia Southern advanced to NCAA regional play at Clemson in 1980... His two-out hit in the ninth inning gave the Eagles' a TAAC championship-round win over Mercer... Hit .425 that weekend to earn all-tournament honors... His .462 batting average and 108 hits the next year are still tops in Eagle history... Was also responsible for a team-high 234 at bats, 69 runs, 60 runs batted in, 20 doubles and three triples... Played in 65 games as a senior... Batted .425 (190 hits in 447 at-bats) for his career, the highest mark in school history... Played in 123 games over the two years... Totaled 126 runs, 37 doubles, five triples, five home runs, 111 runs batted in and 73 walks, while striking out just 37 times... Also stole 13 bases during his career... Selected by the Montreal Expos in the 1981 amateur draft.
