Women?s Tennis Team Completes Day One of the UNF Invitational

Jacksonville, Fla. - The Georgia Southern Women’s Tennis Team completed the first day of the UNF Invitational Friday in Jacksonville.

In the A draw of doubles Christine Caforio (Acworth, Ga.) and Melanie Rolle (Gainesville, Fla.) defeated Natalie Araya and Anna Djananova from Middle Tennessee State 8-6.

In the B draw Jessica Fuller (Cartersville, Ga.) and Kristi Kegerreis (Fairfax, Va.) lost to Marlene Chemin and Taylor Coffey from Middle Tennessee State 8-4.

 

In the C draw both Georgia Southern teams were victorious. Emma Knight and Molly Maddox defeated Vita Moskaliova and Andra Voinea from former SoCon member East Tennessee State 8-6. Ali Beavers and Shea Huxtable beat Megan Jones from FIU and Elvira Yusupova from Jacksonville 8-5.

 

In the A draw of singles Kegerreis lost to Taylor Morgan from Samford 6-4, 6-2, and Beavers lost 6-3, 6-0 to Aline Berkenbrock from North Florida.

 

Fuller won her first match 6-0, 5-7, 6-2 over Samantha Lange from Stetson in the B draw of singles.

 

Maddox defeated Rebecca Kirven from Samford 6-3, 7-6 (5) in B singles action.

 

In the C draw Knight defeated Reijina Hopkins from Bethune-Cookman 6-0, 6-0.

 

The second day of the UNF Invitational continues tomorrow with Rolle and Caforio finishing up their rain-suspended matches.
