Georgia Southern Closes Out Homestand with Davidson
The Eagles are currently 8-4 overall this season and 2-1 in Southern Conference play coming off a 7-0 sweep of Appalachian State (March 7). Georgia Southern took every match off the court en route to the decisive conference victory. With the win, the Eagles pushed their win streak to three straight.
Davidson enters Saturday’s conference match standing at 4-5 overall and will open its conference schedule against the Eagles. The Wildcats have dropped their last two decisions to North Florida and Jacksonville. They recorded a three match win streak earlier in the season, ousting South Carolina State, Wingate and Liberty in consecutive matches.
Georgia Southern will look to avenge a 6-1 regular season defeat from 2008 on Saturday as Davidson took the meeting in Statesboro last season. Sophomore Ali Beavers recorded the lone singles win for the Eagles over Kim Whelan at the three seed in straight sets.
