Eagles in Sixth Heading into Final Day at Davidson Invitational

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Through 22 events at the Davidson Invitational, the Georgia Southern swimming & diving team currently sits in sixth place heading into the final day of competition.

The Eagles had a strong performance in the pool from junior Courtney Martz. The Woodbine, Ga. native has posted two third place finishes, racing for a time of 24.52 in the 50 freestyle and helped the 200 free relay finish in 1:38.50.

Georgia Southern’s 400 medley relay team led by Martz, juniors Kristin Butts (Woodstock, Ga./Kell) and Katelyn Woolfolk (Satellite Beach, Fla./Satellite) and senior Amanda Gerdeman (Jacksonville, Fla./Mandarin) placed fifth with a time of 4:09.81.

Freshman diver Steffi Sheckler placed fifth in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 212.65.

The Eagles currently have 167 points heading into day three at the Davidson Invitational. Events are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with the finals held at 5 p.m. There are nine women’s events remaining.
