Swimming & Diving Hosts Campbell in Dual Meet on Friday
"We are very excited for our first home meet this Friday," said Head Coach Nate Kellogg. "It's always nice to be home at the RAC and the atmosphere will be a loud and energetic. Physically, competing on back to back days and traveling will be challenging, but we have trained hard and fast each day to prepare us for multi-day meets, so it's really nothing our team hasn't already experienced in training."
Georgia Southern split its opening meet of the 2011-12 season on Saturday, defeating SCAD (131-74), but falling to Clemson (121-79) at the Chatham County Aquatic Center in Savannah, Ga. The Eagles recorded eight top-3 finishes on the day, including a first place finish in the 200 Free Relay (1:41.07) by Elaina Lanson (Wadsworth, Ohio), Devan White (Kennesaw, Ga.), Katie Crider (Bloomington, Ind.), and Emily Fell (Brunswick, Ga.).
"For the first meet of the season I thought we had solid performances as a whole," said Kellogg. "There are definitely things we can improve on and our goal for this time of the season is to identify those specific things and work to fix them. We have made sure our team understands that we cannot take anyone lightly and we need everyone to contribute for us to be successful."
The Eagles and Camels will race in pink racing lanes at Friday's dual meet and Georgia Southern is wearing pink caps during the month of October to increase awareness for the fight against breast cancer.
