Cross Country Releases 2008 Schedule

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern women's cross country team has announced its 2008 schedule, which opens Friday at the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, S.C.

After Friday's season opener the Eagles will travel to Spartanburg, S.C. on Saturday, September 6, hosted by USC Upstate.

Georgia Southern runners will perform once more in September running on Saturday, September 20 in Rock Hill, S.C. The meet will be hosted by Winthrop.

The Eagles follow that up by returning to the Auburn Invitational on October the 4th.

Last season Laura Fuller (Cartersville, Ga.) and Shauntel Jennings (Stone Mountain, Ga.) both ran the event in under 20 minutes. Fuller posted a 19:39.59 and Jennings ran a 19:56.69.

The next stop for the Eagles is Chattanooga, Tenn., where they will participate in the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Invitational on October the 18th.

"We are really pleased with the schedule that we were able to put together for this season. With the exception of our first two meets we will have an open week between each of the following meets and that gives us time to use those weeks to work a little more on the areas that we are lacking in," said Coach Smith.

The SoCon Championships will be on November the 1st and is set to take place in Spartanburg, S.C.

From there the Eagles will head to the Regional Championships, which will be held at Winston Salem, N.C.
