10 Eagles Named Winter Academic All-Conference

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Georgia Southern earned 10 slots on the 2012 Southern Conference Winter Academic All-Conference team as announced on Thursday afternoon, April 5th.

Samantha Williams (Kingsport, Tenn.) leads the Women's Basketball team with a 3.87 GPA in accounting while Brittani Martin (Alpharetta, Ga.) leads the Track team with a 3.83 GPA in early childhood education.

To be eligible, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average entering the winter season and were required to compete in at least one-half of their team's competitions during the recently-concluded campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours in the previous two semesters.

Georgia Southern had six honorees from the Women's Basketball team and four from the Indoor Track & Field Squad.
