Men?s Soccer Opens Conference Play against Elon and Furman

Statesboro, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Men’s Soccer Team is set to open SoCon play at home against Elon and Furman.

The Eagles are 2-4-0 on the season after picking up their second win in a 2-0 victory over USC Upstate on September the 24th.

 

In the match against the Spartans, sophomore Fredrik Langseth (Lorenskog, Norway) scored his first collegiate goal off of Georgia Southern’s first penalty kick of the season in the 30 minute mark.

 

Elon is 2-7-1 (1-0-0) on the season after losing their most recent match against #1 Wake Forest 3-0.

 

The Phoenix defeated Wofford (Sept. 17th) 3-1 in their SoCon opener.

 

Elon ranks first in shots taken, fourth in assists and first in corner kicks taken.

 

Elon’s defense ranks fourth in goals allowed, second in saves made and fourth in goals against average.

 

Justin Wyatt leads the Phoenix’s attack with nine points, four goals scored and one assist.

 

Kyle Boerner is the probable goalie for Elon. Boerner has a 1.68 goals against average and has made 24 saves.

 

The Elon match is set for 2pm on Saturday at Eagle Field.

 

Furman is 5-4-1 on the season after defeating Belmont 3-1 on Sunday.

 

The Paladins rank first in points, goals and assists in the conference.

 

Coleton Henning leads the Furman attack with 10 points, four goals and two assists on the season.

 

Josh Zimmer is the probable keeper for the Paladins. Zimmer has a 1.6 goals against average and has made 19 saves.

 

The Furman match is scheduled for 2pm on Tuesday at Eagle Field.
