Daniel Smith Named Men's Soccer Player of the Week
SPARTANBURG, S.C. -Daniel Smith(Marietta, Ga.) was named the Southern Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of September 9.
Smith led the Eagles in last Friday’s game against Clemson. He scored both goals in Georgia Southern’s 2-1 victory at Clemson.
Smith helped the Eagles become just the 16th different team to knock off the Tigers under the lights at Riggs Stadium.
Smith opened the scoring in the sixth minute of the game when he deposited a pass from Jon Cox into the back of the net to give the Eagles an early 1-0 advantage.
After the Tigers tied the contest midway through the first half.
He responded only minutes later to give the Eagles the 2-1 lead.
Smith is second in the SoCon with two points per game and is tied for the league lead with two goals on the season.
