Men?s Soccer Preparing to Face #22 Tulsa
STATESBORO, Ga. - The Men’s Soccer team is heading to Tulsa, Okla. to face the University of Tulsa.
This game will be the regular season opener for both teams.
The Eagles posted a 2-0-1 mark in exhibition play.
They defeated both Georgia State, 2-1 and Lander, 2-0.
“We're very excited to have the opportunity to face one of the top teams in the nation. The match with the University of Tulsa will be a great, early test for our team. Our performance in this game should give us an indication of where we are as a team right now. I'm confident that this match will help prepare us for the type of matches that we'll play in the Southern Conference,” said Coach Kennedy.
Tulsa is ranked #22 by the Soccer Times and picked to win the Conference USA championship.
The Golden Hurricane returns six starters and 15 letterwinners from a team that went, 15-3-2 last year and posted a 6-0-2 mark during conference play.
Tulsa finished exhibition play 1-1. They were defeated by #4 Indiana, 3-1, but bounced back and shutout #16 Illinois-Chicago, 1-0.
The Eagles and the Golden Hurricane last met in 2001, with Tulsa winning the game 3-0.
Friday's match between the Eagles and the Golden Hurricane is scheduled for 7:05 pm at the Hurricane Soccer & Track Stadium.
