SoCon Football Coaches Select 2010 Preseason All-Conference Teams

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Georgia Southern sophomore defensive tackle Brent Russell (Comer, Ga.) and junior defensive back Laron Scott (Warner Robins, Ga.) earned preseason All-Conference honors as announced by the Southern Conference today (July 26). Voting was completed by the league's head football coaches. Russell was selected for defensive first-team honors while Scott was placed on the second team defense.

Russell, who was named College Sporting News FCS Freshman of the Year for 2009, was selected to the All-SoCon first team by the media and second team by the league's coaches at the end of the 2009 season. Both Russell and Scott landed on Phil Steele's preseason honors list for 2010. Russell was named to the preseason FCS All-America second team and All-Southern Conference first team while Scott earned a place on the media organization's All-Southern Conference preseason second team.

The Sports Network tabbed Russell as a member of its 2010 preseason All-America third team.
