Jayson Foster Named National 'Player of the Week'
STATESBORO,
Foster also received the weekly honor from CSN on September 17th.
The senior quarterback rushed for a career-high 279 yards (on 28 carries) and three touchdowns leading the Eagles to a 38-35 win over 10th-ranked Wofford, while throwing for another 57 yards and returning a punt 14 yards. For the fourth time in his career Foster broke off an 80-plus yard TD run, 82 yards just two plays into the game.
During the game he set two Southern Conference records most rushing yards in a quarter (174 in the 1st) and in a half (232 in the first half) against a Terrier team that was leading the league in fewest rushing yards allowed at 117.
Following his record-setting performance, Foster broke his own GS standard for most rushing yards by a quarterback in a game set earlier this year and with 1,567 yards this season stands 35 shy of matching the NCAA FCS season record.
The Eagles (7-2 overall, 4-2 SoCon) play host to Furman this Saturday (Nov. 10), and can capture at least a share of their ninth conference title with a win. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and will be televised live on SportSouth.
