Davidson, N.C. – Georgia Southern Swimming and Diving competed at Davidson in a seven-team duel meet at the Cannon Natatorium Pool. The Eagles went 4-2 on the day, falling short to only Liberty and host Davidson.
Saturday’s meet began with the Eagles 200 Medley Relay team taking second place with a time of 1:50.24. The relay team started the way for an impressive day for the Eagles.
Freshman (Bogart, Ga.) took first place in both the 1000 Free (10:35.39) and the 500 Free (5:09.97). (Kennesaw, Ga.) placed second in the 200 Free with a time of 1:57.22.

Freshman (Greenwood, S.C.) earned a second place finish in both the 100 Back (1:00.65) and the 200 Back (2:07.96). And in the 100 Breast, the Eagles took three of the top four spots. (Wadsworth, Ohio) took second in the 50 Free with a score of 24.43, and (Greenville, S.C.) placed second in the 200 Breast (2:27.74) to close out the top–ten finishes for the Eagles.
The meet reached the height of its excitement when Davidson edged out of the Eagles in the last event (400 Free Relay) to secure first place for the meet and drop the Eagles to third.
“In a close meet like this, you come prepared for it. But we still made little mistakes that ended up costing us in the end,” Said Head Coach Nate Kellogg. “Its unfortunate but that’s how things go sometimes. But we’ll definitely learn from it, so it doesn’t happen again. Especially in three weeks.”
That is when the Eagles will be going for the conference crown at the CCSA Swimming and Diving Championships February 16-18 in Athens, Georgia.
