WDUN Joins Georgia Southern Radio Network

GAINESVILLE, Ga. - WDUN AM 550 has committed to join the Georgia Southern Radio Network for the 2010 football season. WDUN, known as News/Talk 550, has served North Georgia for more than six decades under the same family ownership with news, talk, local programming and sports. The 10,000 watt station transmits to an area covering 16 counties in north Georgia while extending into the central part of the state.

"The increasing number of Georgia Southern alumni and friends throughout North Georgia encouraged our station to offer this sports feature for our radio audience, " stated Jay Jacobs, President and CEO of Jacobs Media. "We are delighted to be a part of the Eagles' network."

WDUN also broadcasts sports programming for the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons as well as the Gwinnett Braves and Gwinnett Gladiators.  As part of the Georgia Southern Radio Network, WDUN will carry the entire 2010 regular season and any postseason broadcasts of Georgia Southern Football.

"The addition of WDUN to the Georgia Southern Radio Network aligns us with one of the most recognized and respected radio stations in the state," said Georgia Eagle Media General Manager Chris Blair. "WDUN, with its powerful signal, will provide coverage for Eagle Football in the most populated area of the state, in and around Atlanta. With WDUN and our partners, we've grown the network in the number of stations carrying Georgia Southern football games as well as the coverage area across Georgia and into Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee."

Kickoff for the 2010 season opener for Georgia Southern Head Coach Jeff Monken and the Eagles is 6 p.m. on September 4th when they play host to Savannah State. The pre-game show begins at 4 p.m. on WDUN and the network stations. Blair, who begins his fifth season as "Voice of the Eagles," will handle play-by-play duties with three-time national champion Terry Harvin providing commentary.  Covering the developing stories on the field, Ryan Chambers will report from the sidelines.

WDUN and more than 15 stations across Georgia comprise the Georgia Southern Radio Network with the flagship, WPMX 102.9 FM, located in Statesboro.
