Men’s Basketball Visits UNCG on Wednesday Night

STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern’s Men’s Basketball hits the road for the final regular season games of the 2012-13 campaign. On Wednesday, Georgia Southern visits UNCG at the Greensboro Coliseum. The Eagles close the regular season on Saturday afternoon at Davidson.
The Eagles (12-17, 6-10 SoCon) took a 78-61 win over Furman on Saturday night in the 2012-13 home finale. C.J. Reed led the Eagles with 14 points and eight rebounds as Georgia Southern scored a season-high 15 three-pointers. Reed scored four from downtown while the trio of Cleon Roberts, Brian Holmes and Cleon Roberts each added three buckets from downtown.

Junior Eric Ferguson leads the Eagles with 14.3 points per game. He has scored 20 or more points in five contests, most recently with 22 at College of Charleston. He has 1,250 career points to rank 26th all-time at Georgia Southern.
The Eagles are 3-5 all-time in the Greensboro Coliseum and trail 12-8 in the all-time series against the Spartans. The Eagles downed UNCG 83-69 last season at Hanner Fieldhouse to snap a four-game skid against Greensboro.
UNCG enters Wednesday’s game at 8-19 overall and a 6-10 SoCon record. Trevis Simpson is averaging 19.1 points per game. On Thursday night, UNCG’s Nicholas Paulos scored 30 points off the bench by going 10-for-12 from downtown in the Spartans’ 94-68 win at Chattanooga.
On Saturday, Georgia Southern visits Davidson to close the 2012-13 regular season starting at 2 p.m. The 2013 Southern Conference Tournament starts on March 8th from Asheville, N.C. The Eagles’ will learn their first round foe this weekend when the tournament bracket is announced.
