The Georgia Southern Swimming and Diving team is ready for it's final test. The Eagles travel to Athens, Ga. to compete in the CSSA Championships Feb 21-23 at Georgia’s Gabrielsen Natatorium.

“This is what we focus on all year and our kids are definitely prepared for it and they’re ready and we are excited,” said Head Coach Nate Kellogg.

The Eagles finished up the dual meet season with a 10-4-1 record and are looking to improve on last year’s third place finish at the Championships behind champion Florida Gulf Coast and runner-up Liberty.

“It’s our goal to swim faster than we ever have before. It’s always our goal to be a little better every year. Obviously for the divers I would like them to get the best scores they’ve ever had. I would say we would like to be fighting for the top two, three or four spots, that’s kind of where we’re shooting,” said Kellogg.

The meet will follow the NCAA championship's three-day format, with trials in the morning and finals during the night session each day. For a full schedule, see below.

Diver Sara Meisenhelder heads to Athens as the number one favorite in the three-meter dive. The junior qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving championships earlier this year with a pool and school record of 281.70. Last year at the Championships, Meisenhelder placed second in both the one and three-meter dive and was named CCSA Diver of the Year. Meisenhelder currently ranks fourth in the three-meter dive as well.

During the dual meet season, sophomore Elaina Lanson also left a stamp on the CCSA overall performances sheet. The sprinter ranks in the top five of the conference in the 50 and 100 Free, and holds top 15 times in the 50 and 100 Back.

Other Eagles that are currently ranked in the conference top 10 are freshman Kylee Parsons (500 Free, 1000 Free, 1650 Free) sophomore Amber Juncker (1000 Free), freshman Christina Moran (200 Back), sophomore Abbie Lavallin (100 Breast) and junior Courtney Harrison (100 Breast, 200 Breast).

In addition to individual success, the Eagles’ relay teams have the potential make a splash this year as well. Over the course of the season, the relay squads have assured themselves of top seven times in all relay events.
