Baseball Recognized for Weekend Series Win
STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern was named to Perfect Game's Mid-Major “Hot Board”, and Ben Morgan was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week by College Sports Madness after the Eagles took two of three from #29 Georgia over the weekend.
Perfect Game had this to say about Georgia Southern's season-opening series win. “This is supposed to be somewhat of a rebuilding campaign for coach Rodney Hennon and the Eagles, but they made an opening weekend statement with a home series win over in-state power Georgia.”
Morgan was named the SoCon Player of the Week after hitting a team-best six-for-12 (.500) with a double and his first career home run. Morgan also drove in three runs, walked twice and stole three bases in the Georgia series.
The Eagles travel to #13 Florida today and will host Big Ten favorite Indiana in a three-game set starting Friday. First pitch against the Hoosiers on Friday night is set for 6 p.m.
