Eagles Finish Second at Wingate Frenzy

WINGATE, N.C. - Georgia Southern Swimming and Diving finishes out the fall portion of their season with a second place finish at the Wingate Frenzy in Wingate, N.C. Standing in first place after two days of competing, the Eagles dropped one spot to finish out the three-day tournament.

"I thought our women did a tremendous job of racing and competing throughout the entire weekend. We battled on every race and just came up a bit short at the end. I'm certainly proud of our team for that,” said Head Coach Nathan Kellogg.

Kristen Bates continued to excel at the breaststroke, coming in second in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:21.63. This is the second time she finished in the top two in a breaststroke event, finishing first in the 100 Breast on Saturday.

Freshmen Christina Moran (200 Back, 2:05.75) and Kylee Parsons (1650 Free, 17:34.10) closed out a strong fall campaign with two more top five finishes, both finishing fourth in their respective events. Elaina Lanson also came in fourth in the 100 Free (51.74).

The Eagles will now enjoy over one month off before they start the spring portion of their schedule. The team will travel to Fort Myers, Fla. on Jan. 5 to face conference foes Florida Gulf Coast and Liberty.
