Volleyball Hosts the SpringHill Suites Eagle Invitational This Weekend

STATESBORO, Ga. – After three highly-competitive tournaments on the road, the Georgia Southern volleyball team will host its own tournament, the SpringHill Suites Eagle Invitational, Thursday through Saturday in Hanner Fieldhouse.
Action starts Thursday night as the Eagles (6-4) host South Alabama (5-5) at 7 p.m. Wisconsin (8-1), Jacksonville (1-8) and Savannah State (0-12) are also in the tournament. Georgia Southern takes on Wisconsin Friday at 7 p.m. and plays Savannah State (2 p.m.) and Jacksonville (7 p.m.) Saturday. The full slate of matches is below.
The Eagles are coming off a 1-2 weekend at the Lobo Invitational, having dropped a pair of five-set matches to host New Mexico and UC Santa Barbara. GSU topped Portland 3-1 to finish the tourney.
Eagle setter Kate Van Dyke, already the school's career leader in assists, ranks 29th in the country, averaging 11.23 per set. Georgia Southern is sixth in the country as a team in digs per set with 18.25, and defensive specialist Alexandra Beecher ranks 95th with 4.60 a set.
Fans can buy a tournament pass for $15 for admission to all of the tournament matches. Single-match tickets are priced at $5 for adults and $3 for youth 12-and-under. The matches featuring Georgia Southern will be streamed live.
