STATESBORO, Ga., BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., and CUPERTINO, Calif. – Georgia Southern Athletics launched both Android and iOS editions of its mobile app, offering fans another way to connect with their favorite Eagle programs. The free mobile app, named “Eagles GATA,” is available in the Google Play store and on iTunes.
Providing immediate access to core content from the Georgia Southern Athletics website, the mobile app integrates Georgia Southern Athletics’ social media and multimedia offerings. Fans can listen to replays from the Georgia Southern Radio Network, clips from the Southern Pride Marching Band as well as the official game song “Blue White.” Through the live link, fans can watch games, enjoy encore broadcasts and the latest interviews with Eagle coaches and student-athletes.
An exclusive fan wall allows fans to post comments and photos and interact with other Eagle fans who have downloaded the app. Points can be compiled for posting a comment with a photo, adding items to a favorites list, watching videos and listening to audio tracks. Push notifications and e-mail subscriptions offer another level of engagement with Georgia Southern Athletics with the ability to earn badges and rewards for attending Eagle sporting events, interacting with the app and sharing content through social media.
The first badge offered on the new app will be for fans who attend the first-ever night soccer game and check in at the Georgia Southern Soccer Stadium (Eagle Field) Friday when the Georgia Southern Men’s Soccer team plays host to Elon at 7 p.m. New content, exclusive offers and other new features will be added to the “Eagles GATA” app functionality as they are available.
Georgia Southern Athletics contracted with Mobile Roadie to provide the platform and content management system for the “Eagles GATA” app. The apps for Mobile Roadie’s 3,000 global clients reach more than 22 million people worldwide. Several sports teams, including the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Kings and Washington Redskins and recording artists Taylor Swift, Drake, Brad Paisley, and Adele, are on Mobile Roadie’s client roster. The San Diego Zoo, Wynn Las Vegas, and Great American Country represent other brands partnering with Mobile Roadie for their apps.

STATESBORO, Ga. - Beginning with the new fiscal year Georgia Southern Athletics will implement its plan to integrate its broadcast rights, marketing and website assets. The comprehensive plan takes into consideration existing and new platforms available for the promotion of Eagle Athletics. The collaborative effort marks the return of the operation of the Georgia Southern Radio Network to the athletics department with further enhancements to the website and social media efforts.
"It was the right time to take stock of our current broadcasting, communication and marketing assets and discuss the areas where we felt like we could make improvements," said Director of Athletics Sam Baker. "Looking to the future, we are making investments in these areas to benefit all of our programs with the goal of expanding the reach of Georgia Southern Athletics."
The Georgia Southern Radio Network will be headquartered in the Athletics Department with announcement of a new flagship station in the coming weeks. Coverage of Eagle Football on affiliates across the state and local broadcasts of other athletics events will be complemented by online presentations of games, weekly coaches' shows, special programming, and other features on Eagle Vision.
Chris Blair, the director of network operations for Georgia Eagle Media since 2006, joins the Georgia Southern Athletic Department as Director of Broadcasting. Blair will continue to handle play-by-play duties for Eagle football and men's basketball games while managing the radio network, affiliate relationships and sales.
The creation of an area in the athletics department dedicated to new media focuses on information distributed on social media platforms as well as video content on GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com. This venture, managed by Rose Carter, will provide fans with expanded coverage of their favorite teams and student-athletes. Information products will be retooled or created and highlighted through front-page features with new and additional marketing inventory available for sponsors and advertisers.
Corporate sponsorships, marketing and promotions activities in support of athletics, events and tickets sales fall under the purview of new Athletics Marketing Director Matthew Taylor. Continuing to provide value with sponsorships and other partnerships, Taylor and his staff will also work to enhance game day atmosphere and fan experience. Athletics Marketing will collaborate with New Media to promote games and events to the campus and community and connect with fans.
Georgia Southern fans can stay up to date with the latest information on their Eagle teams by visiting GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com. Mobile users can access a basic html version of the athletics website at m.georgiasoutherneagles.com while website headlines and article links are available on twitter.com/GSAthletics and facebook.com/GSAthletics.
Georgia Southern Athletics Partners Again in Recycling Program

STATESBORO, Ga. - For the fifth year, Georgia Southern University Athletics has partnered with Keep Bulloch Beautiful for the recycling program at Paulson Stadium. The 'Tailgating Recycling' program will be available starting with the season-opener on Saturday, September 5th.
Tailgating at Georgia Southern football games is a fun tradition that unfortunately generates a lot of waste. Georgia Southern University is teaming up with Keep Bulloch Beautiful and volunteers to promote and refine the recycling to the tailgating area.
Recycling will be available inside the stadium and outside in the parking area. As part of the tailgate portion, special event recycling containers will be set up 3-4 hours prior to kickoff in "pods" next to each dumpster, trashcan, and at the end of each row of parking spots. Volunteers will also navigate through the tailgating area to pass out bags to tailgaters for their plastic bottles and aluminum cans. Fans are encouraged to use these bags for their recyclables and leave the bags in their tailgate spot as they enter the game. Tailgaters are also asked to bring beverages in cans or plastic bottle, glass will not be recycled for safety reasons.
The recycling container "pods" will be removed 15-20 minutes before the game starts and all bags containing recyclables will be collected. Last year's the tailgating recycling program averaged 1,000-1,200 pounds of recyclables collected and diverted from the landfill at each game.
For more information or to volunteer, please contact Keep Bulloch Beautiful at (912) 764-6147 or GSU Recycling Program at (912) 478-7225.
