Broadcast Rights Agreement Extended Through 2014
STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Athletics Department announced that it has extended its broadcast rights agreement with Georgia Eagle Media through 2014. Georgia Eagle Media, headquartered in Warner Robins, Ga., develops, maintains and manages the Georgia Southern Radio Network for football and broadcasts for both basketball programs and Eagle baseball.
"The Georgia Southern Athletics Department is very excited about being able to extend the current radio contract," said Director of Athletics Sam Baker. "Georgia Eagle Media has worked very hard to develop an outstanding football network throughout the state of Georgia, as well as provide great exposure for our baseball and men's and women's basketball programs. The efforts of Georgia Eagle Media have provided our teams, fans and alumni with an elite broadcast platform."
Broadcasting all home and away games for football, men's and women's basketball and baseball, as well as lending its on-air talent to special segments and shows for GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com, Georgia Eagle Media has been the Georgia Southern Athletics broadcast rights holder since 2006. The team of Chris Blair, play-by-play, Terry Harvin, analyst, and Ryan Chambers, sideline reporter, will once again bring Eagle fans all the action beginning with the 2010 football season opener September 4 vs. Savannah State.
In addition to all Georgia Southern regular season and playoff football games on the network Georgia Eagle Media will continue to broadcast all Eagle and Lady Eagle basketball games and baseball games locally in Statesboro. As part of the agreement, network affiliates may also choose to distribute select basketball and baseball games during the course of their respective seasons. Blair will be joined by John Koon again for the 2010-11 men's basketball campaign with Ryan Chambers handling the play-by-play duties for both Lady Eagle basketball and baseball.
"Building the network and game broadcasts around a preeminent program like Georgia Southern enhances not only our enterprise, but has created a partnership that benefits the athletics department, Eagle fans and alumni," said Chris Blair, director of network operations for Georgia Eagle Media. "This contract extension allows us to work together to deliver game day excitement to Georgia Southern fans on the radio network and worldwide through our online broadcasts."
Georgia Southern fans and alumni who reside outside the coverage areas may listen to live and on-demand audio broadcasts of Georgia Southern football, men's and women's basketball, and baseball games for free on www.GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com.
In addition to other media outlets, Georgia Eagle Media owns and operates 15 radio stations with seven located in southeast Georgia, including the network's 25,000 watt flagship Eagle 102.9 (WPMX FM).
