Eagles Celebrate National Student-Athlete Day
STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Athletic Department celebrates the 25th Annual National Student-Athlete Day on Friday, April 6th. The Eagles held their 2012 Student-Athlete banquet on Tuesday night to honor those that performed not just on the field but in the classroom too. The day recognizes those student-athletes with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
The National Student-Athlete Day honors student-athletes who have achieved excellence in academics and athletics, while having made significant contributions to their schools and communities. It also recognizes parents, teachers, coaches and administrators who have helped support student-athletes in their pursuit of balancing academics and athletics.
National Student-Athlete Day was created by the National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS) and Northeastern University's Sport in Society. It is co-sponsored with the NCAA and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).
