Hall of Fame Member Brenda Carter Selected to the U.S. Alice Marble Cup Team

White Plains, N.Y. - Former Associate Director of Athletics, Brenda Carter, has been selected by the United States Tennis Association (UTSA) to the U.S. Alice Marble Cup Team for women 60 and over.

Carter will compete in an international team competition in Antalya, Turkey, which starts October 12^th.

Brenda Carter will serve as team captain again this year as the U.S. team looks to improve on their Bronze medal performance from a year ago.

The team will be made up of four woman, who are selected by the USTA from the best players in an age division.

Carter’s teammates are Molly Hahn, Betty Wachob and Patricia Keleman.

In 2007, Brenda Carter won the world 60’s singles title and was the finalist in the doubles.  She is currently the number one ranked singles player in the United States (60 and over) and number one in doubles with teammate Betty Wachob. 

Brenda Carter served as Georgia Southern's first Senior Woman Administrator from 1993 to 1999.  She was also the faculty chair of athletics (1990-92), associate athletics director and an assistant professor in the mathematics and computer science department. In 2004, she was inducted into the Georgia Southern Athletic Hall of Fame. 

Carter has been named the Adult Tennis Player of the Year by both the Southern Section of the USTA (2003) and by the South Carolina Tennis Association (2001 and 2006).

She currently resides in Charleston, SC with her husband, Harry.
