Georgia Southern Student-Athletes Honored by SoCon

SPARTANBURG. S.C. – 25 Georgia Southern University student-athletes were honored by the Southern Conference for academic excellence during the 2008 spring season.  A total of 243 student-athletes from eight sports and 11 institutions were honored by the Southern Conference.

The 243 student-athletes averaged a 3.54 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.  This is the sixth consecutive year that the SoCon has named an All-Academic Team by season.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average entering the spring season and must have competed in at least one-half of their team’s competitions during the recently-concluded campaign.

This is the sixth year that the Southern Conference has named an All-Academic Team by season.
